Flipside is a fully-funded (free to attend), 12-week, part-time course designed to introduce Londoners aged 18-30 to all the skills and networks needed to start a career in digital product design. 

Created by the Good Growth Hub in partnership with leading UK agencies Beyond, BIO Agency, Made by Many, Sennep, The Skills Lab and ustwo – Flipside is designed to give a broad foundation of technical skills and insights no matter your education background. In the course, you'll get to build digital products and receive the support structures needed to develop employability skills so you can successfully and sustainably break into the digital design industry – either in-house or freelance.  

 

Course highlights: 

  • 3-months of hands-on training led by some of the UK's best digital agencies  
  • Responding to a live brief where you'll apply what you're learning and build an A-Z case study for your portfolio  (like building an app)
  • Learn and network with multiple leading design agencies, including Made by Many, ustwo, BYND, and many more  
  • Get matched with an industry mentor to support you in achieving your goals   
  • Receive a training bursary of £500   
  • A guaranteed job interview at the end of the programme with a leading digital design agency paid at LLW or above to kickstart your career 

 

Who can apply? 

Essential: 

  • 18-30 years old   
  • Living in a London borough 
  • Available for 12 weeks of part-time training from 9 January until 31 March 2023 
  • Interested in a career in the digital design sector  

Desired: 

  • No specific set of qualifications, instead, we ask that you can demonstrate creative problem-solving skills, be curious and love to learn, and have the drive and commitment to have a career in digital product design 
  • An interest in and basic knowledge of design software (InVision) and editing tools (Adobe) 
  • Familiarity with design techniques (prototyping) 
  • Have strong attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, and basic project management skills, including time management and scheduling 
  • Work effectively within teams
